Groups pay more to keep succession plans viable

As recently reported in CEO Update, during the last 12 months nearly a quarter of new CEOs were promoted into that position, so its not surprising some of these highest-paid staffers are now sitting in the CEO chair. What is striking, though, is the salaries of these pre-CEOs before promotion. Charles Quatt They include some of the highest paid in this report, including Leigh Ann Pusey, who earned $1,158,156 in 2008 as COO and chief lobbyist for the American Insurance Association, and Dan Danner at National Federation of Independent Business, who earned $831,279 as EVP.
